Josepha is a slave in a black camp. She sometimes is allowed to cook in the kitchen of the Big House but she has a hard life. one day as she's working in the kitchen she decides, "I will get free, I'll use the underground railroad." Years later she finds herself on the farm of someone very dear to her. Mayme Jukes, also a former slave and Josepha's friend, know Josepha is coming to stay. she can also tell people will not like it. Rosewood plantation is known for blacks and whites living there and people aren't to happy about it. Can Josepha ever fit in again? That's until she meets Henry, learns to love again, and eventually gets married to him. There's still trouble brewing but for now she's happy with Henry at Rosewood.
